Fisker puts the Fisker Ocean through extreme heat testing in some of the harshest conditions imaginable and in the hottest place on earth.
Today, Fisker released Episode 3 in its Technology Inside Series. The episode is titled Extreme Heat Testing in Death Valley. In this video, we get an inside look at what happens when the Fisker Engineering team pushes the all-electric SUV to its limits. On September 1st, the company announced it had conducted excessive heat testing of the Fisker Ocean in California’s Death Valley. Now the company lets us watch the Fisker Ocean take on the hottest desert on earth.
You’re probably wondering what’s involved in excessive heat testing other than driving in 122° weather. According to Fisker, “Heat testing is when we look at the vehicle as a complete system, including chassis, powertrain, battery, HVAC, and stress the system to its limits, looking at the entire vehicle performance, together.” Basically, the Fisker Engineering team gets to test and confirm the electric SUV’s behavior in a real-world environment.
The Fisker Ocean has now underwent some of the most extreme weather testing with the latest trip to Death Valley. Back in March, the company reported the Fisker Ocean completed extensive winter testing in Sweden. This was in addition to durability testing in high-speed/high-load conditions in April. At the time, the company said the Fisker Ocean was performing ongoing IIHS crash testing. A month later, Henrik teased us about a 5-star rating.
Fisker is on track for its official start of production of the electric SUV on November 17, 2022. Prior to start of production, Fisker will bring the Fisker Ocean to the Paris Motor Show and the Oslo Motor Show. We’re still waiting for Fisker to announce new pop-up locations here in the United States. As of today, Fisker has over 60,000 reservations for the all-electric Fisker Ocean SUV.
