Fisker Ocean One Pre-Ordering Starts Friday

You’re probably wondering the same question as other Fisker Ocean reservation holders, will you be able to pre-order the Fisker Ocean One?

On Friday, Fisker opens up pre-ordering for the hotly anticipated Fisker Ocean One. The company will begin contacting reservation holders at the end of this week. Fisker needs to fill 5,000 pre-order spots for the limited edition run of the Fisker Ocean One. We all are wondering the same question. Will I be able to get one of the 5,000 Fisker Ocean One SUVs?

Quick History of Fisker Ocean Reservations

Fisker began taking reservations for the Fisker Ocean in November 2019. That is more than two and a half years ago. At the time, the electric SUV was marketed to be priced below $40,000. The company also made mention of the Fisker Flexible Lease program. The company captured their first 5,000 Fisker Ocean reservations by May 2020.

On November 17, 2021, the company revealed the production-intent version of the Fisker Ocean. This was just two days before the Los Angeles Auto Show. This announcement listed the Fisker Ocean One priced at $68,999.

At this time, the company has approximately 18,000 reservations. That means no one up until this point knew about the Fisker Ocean One or its price. Since then, reservations have taken off as you can see in the chart.

It makes us wonder how many of the first reservation holders will actually purchase a $68,999 electric vehicle. On top of this, there will be tax, destination, and doc fees. Don’t forget, most people will need to purchase sight unseen and without a test drive. Not to mention, the Fisker Flexible Lease won’t be offered until end of 2023.

We wanted to try to figure out who has a good shot at pre-ordering a Fisker Ocean One. Fisker may have to contact less reservation holders than many think. All they need is 5,000 pre-orders for the Fisker Ocean One.

One of the members on Fiskerati Forums created a poll and we gave it a boost on Twitter. However, we needed a little more data for this article. We posted a separate Twitter poll. However, we narrowed the range of choices. We did that since demand for electric vehicles has skyrocketed along with gas prices.

Our poll asked, “How many reservation holders will it take Fisker to fill 5,000 Fisker Ocean One pre-orders?” 25% of respondents believe the company will need to contact between 5k to 6k reservation holders to sell out of the first 5,000 Ocean One SUVs. You can put us into that camp.

We believe Fisker Ocean One pre-orders will fill up quickly. However, the largest cohort of respondents, nearly 50%, believe Fisker will need to contact more than 8,000+ reservation holders. The bulk of respondents (like us) are hoping their reservation number gets called. You can see the results from the poll below. The poll had a total of 108 votes.
