Abbie Eaton to Test Drive Fisker Ocean Later This Month

Abbie Eaton will join Henrik Fisker in May to test drive the Fisker Ocean at Bridgestone’s test track for more fine tuning.

Yesterday, Henrik Fisker announced Abbie Eaton will soon be test driving the Fisker Ocean later this month. At the start of the Fisker earnings call, Henrik said Eaton will join him at Bridgestone’s test track for more fine tuning. We should expect to see more videos of the Fisker Ocean. However, this time it will be race car driver Abbie Eaton testing the limits.

The renowned racing driver will work with Fisker’s engineering team to help develop the brand’s signature driving dynamics. The focus will be on engaging the Fisker Ocean’s low center of gravity and on-demand torque. Fisker is ahead of schedule with Fisker Ocean SUV prototype testing. Previously slated to commence in the second half of 2021, Fisker posted videos of his test drive two weeks ago.

“Whether for racing or for the road, setting up a vehicle is both art and science,” said Abbie Eaton. “I’ve already had a taste of how an electric vehicle handles on the track, and I’m looking forward to working with the Fisker engineering team on the Ocean and how we can take dynamic advantage of that low center of gravity and on-demand torque.”

Abbie brings her experience as a test driver for The Grand Tour show to Fisker. In addition to her credentials as a race driver, she is also a certified instructor and precision driver. Eaton will join other women at Fisker in high-visibility senior roles. She will perfect the Fisker Ocean SUV and eventually three more vehicles with her expertise.

Throughout 2021, Fisker will build a series of test and validation prototypes for the Ocean program. Currently, 23 out of 55 Fisker Ocean prototypes have been built at Magna Steyr. Each repetition adds more production-intent subsystems, starting with suspension/chassis, adding electrical – then powertrain. The company announced yesterday they’ve moved from virtual testing to physical testing.
