The Fisker Ocean Is Fast: 0-60 Times in Earth, Fun, and Hyper Mode

Fisker Ocean 0-60 Hyper Mode

We discover the thrilling acceleration capabilities of our Fisker Ocean One testing 0 to 60 times in each drive mode and the results were surprising.

Today, we are thrilled to share our exhilarating experience testing every drive mode on our Fisker Ocean electric SUV. Equipped with a Drag Meter to precisely measure the performance, we set out to discover the 0 to 60 MPH capabilities of each mode, including Earth, Fun, Hyper, and Boost. While we are clearly not a professional driver, we dive into each of the different drive modes and reveal the surprising results of our zero to 60 acceleration tests.

Understanding Fisker Ocean Drive Modes

Before we jump into our exciting performance tests, let’s take a quick look at the different drive modes available on the Fisker Ocean. That way we can better understand what we should expect from each of the Fisker Ocean drive modes. The Fisker Ocean has three main drive modes including Earth, Fun, and Hyper mode. There is also Boost mode, which is available when the electric vehicle is in Hyper mode.

Fisker says Earth mode prioritizes energy efficiency and regenerative braking. It makes it the eco-friendly choice, perfect for city driving and daily commutes. Fun mode is designed for everyday driving. It offers impressive speed and acceleration, making it ideal for highway journeys and quick maneuvers. Then there is Hyper mode, which is our favorite. It’s for those seeking sheer power and performance. Hyper mode delivers maximum acceleration and exhilarating torque, making it a thrill to drive.

Lastly, there is Boost mode in our Fisker Ocean One, also available on the Ocean Extreme trim. It initiates a burst of maximum acceleration when combined with Hyper Mode, promising breathtaking 0-60 times of 3.7 seconds with a one-foot rollout using all 564 horsepower. However, to activate Boost mode, you need to follow a three-step process as outlined on the central touchscreen and owner’s manual.

Accelerating to the Limit

To ensure consistency, we selected a flat freeway on-ramp as our testing ground to achieve the best possible results. Each test was performed from the exact same starting point to create a fair and accurate comparison between the modes. Clearly the best place to test 0-60 times is a drag strip, but there isn’t one close by to where we live. However, we’ve all probably punched the accelerator on our car at least a few times getting on to the freeway!

Our 0-60 Acceleration Times

Our thrilling acceleration testing of our Fisker Ocean One introduced us to four unique driving modes, each promising a different experience on the road. The first mode we engaged was Hyper Mode, renowned for its sheer power and exhilarating acceleration with 468 horsepower. Although the tires struggled to find traction, we managed a commendable 0-60 time of 3.99 seconds. You could tell the Ocean wanted to go faster in this mode, but we couldn’t get the tires to grip the road.

Fun Mode took the spotlight next, and to our surprise, it surpassed Hyper Mode with a remarkable 0-60 time of 3.97 seconds. The impressive performance was largely attributed to the improved road grip in Fun Mode. While super sporty, this drive mode appears to have the torque dialed down, giving the tires a better opportunity to grip the road from a complete stop. This is undoubtedly the best drive mode for launching a car from a starting line, unless you have a grippy road.

Contrary to our expectations, Earth Mode impressed us with its agility and eco-friendly nature. During our test runs, we achieved respectable 0-60 times of 4.46 seconds and 4.49 seconds, proving that environmentally conscious driving need not compromise on speed and excitement. This drive mode allows the tires to grip the pavement the entire way down the road and then bursts into Hyper mode. This was probably the most surprising finding of all the 0-60 acceleration testing.

Then There Is Boost Mode

The most eagerly anticipated mode was Boost Mode, designed for maximum acceleration. Despite following the three-step instructions meticulously, Boost mode posed some challenges during our testing. We made several attempts to experience the super acceleration boost, which made our hands shake and heart race – a thrilling experience in itself! Unfortunately, we couldn’t activate Boost mode and, as a result, couldn’t achieve the desired 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds. It was likely either user error or simply not working. We contacted Fisker for support, and they’ve been great at looking into it. We hope to attempt Boost mode again in the future, eager to unleash the full potential of this exceptional driving experience. For now, we have to wait and see if the feature should be renamed to Beast mode!

More Testing Needed, Primarily Boost Mode

We had a thrilling experience testing the Fisker Ocean’s drive modes, and we discovered exciting performance capabilities. It was a blast, literally! Fun mode proved to be the fastest off the line, while Hyper mode was too powerful for the tires to grip the road. However, Hyper mode remains our favorite drive mode because it offers fast acceleration when already in motion, like cruising on the freeway. Earth mode showcased the Fisker Ocean’s eco-friendly efficiency, kind of surprising us with its sub 5-second 0-60 time acceleration. Though Boost mode presented some challenges for us, we remain excited about its potential.

We documented the entire testing process in a YouTube video for you to witness the thrilling moments firsthand. Given the opportunity to test on a drag strip, track, or closed road, we’re confident the Fisker Ocean would deliver even more impressive results like a 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds in Boost mode. One thing is certain, the Fisker Ocean is wicked fast even without a “Boost” especially in Earth mode. We can’t wait to repeat this exhilarating 0-60 acceleration testing in the near future and continue exploring the full potential of our Fisker Ocean electric SUV!

  1. What you are describing is an oxymoron. There is no such thing as a zero to sixty time with a one foot roll out. That is not how manufacturers and auto journalists run a zero to sixty mph time trial. The time starts with the car at a dead stop, not a rolling stop. As result your numbers are fiction. Please do it the right way, like everyone else does and post it here.

In my opinion, Fisker’s continuing stretching of the truth and over the top hype is undermining Fisker credibility in my opinion.

  2. Tesla and Fisker are more or less the only “consumer” car manufacturers who use it for measuring 0-60. The standard is to measure from a dead stop as Paul states. So the times are comparable to Tesla, but not against other car manufacturers. Not that it matters that much, the bottom line is that it’s fast enough.

    1. Untrue! Apparently, Ford does the same thing as Tesla and Fisker. Haven’t checked other companies. Go check Ford’s website for the 0-60 on the Ford Mach-E, “Ford test data based on typical industry methodology using 1-ft. rollout. Your results may vary.” It gets a 4.8 second 0-60 with extended range battery and eAWD. Nevertheless, I agree Ricky, the times are pretty fast for the Fisker Ocean!
