Fisker Ocean Photos After Rigorous Crash Testing

Impressive photos show off Fisker Ocean electric SUVs that have seemingly undergone extensive crash and safety testing.

Today, we received photos of Fisker Ocean electric SUVs used for crash and safety testing. The photos showcase two beaten up Fisker Oceans situated in a fenced-off site. Each Fisker Ocean, painted with a Great White exterior, features target markers. Each market is strategically positioned on various parts of the vehicle. This was to aid in analyzing and measuring crash effects. These photos are quite something to see (photo gallery below)!

The photos reveal electric SUVs that have clearly undergone crash testing, likely frontal crash tests, side barrier crash tests, side pole crash tests, and rollover resistance tests. One photo clearly captures stickers on the driver and passenger doors that reads “Vehicle Safety by Magna Steyr.” Another photo captures deployed airbags, likely from a frontal crash test, and damaged doors resulting from a side barrier crash test.

Who Carried Out the Crash & Safety Testing?

A Fiskerati reader and future Fisker Ocean One owner took these photos in Gratkorn, Austria. The crash testing facility belongs to Capgemini Engineering Austria, previously known as ALTRAN Austria. Fisker and Magna Steyr utilized this facility as one of the companies to provide passive safety testing in Austria as a member of the Euro NCAP Program. Last month, Fisker stated that it employed an internationally recognized agency to conduct the testing, without disclosing the company’s name. It seems that this company is the one that carried out the crash and safety testing!

Furthermore, at that time, Fisker expressed confidence in obtaining a five-star rating from the NHTSA if the government entity decides to put their vehicle to the test. According to Henrik Fisker, “Fisker engineered the structure of the Fisker Ocean to achieve a five-star crash rating according to the NCAP. An official five-star rating will now be possible should NHTSA select a Fisker Ocean for testing.” The ‘NHTSA’s 5-Star Safety Ratings’ program evaluates vehicle performance in crash tests. This organization uses frontal, side, and rollover tests because they are the most common in crashes on American roads.
